EXTENDS OFFER TO TECH STUDENTS AND FACULTY [MARCH 07, 2003] In breifings on 6 March, Mark Rheinlander, CEO of Calytrix, Inc., an Australian simulation company, visited Tech to explore possible collaborations. During the information exchange, Mark suggested that SIMplicity, their flagship product, might be a useful instructional tool for simulation courses, and offered to provide the package for instructional use. Instructors and students are encouraged to visit www.calytrix.com to explore the utility of SIMplicity in their studies or research and contact Thom McLean (thom@cc.gatech.edu) with questions or feedback. NIST CONFERENCE ON M&S FOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE [MARCH 04, 2003] NIST will be hosting a conference to identify issues and opportunities for capitalizing on simulation to enhance emergency response. TV COVERAGE OF MIXED REALITY [FEBRUARY 14, 2003] The Institute for Simulation and Training (IST), an Orlando-based organization, got some news coverage from Tech TV in a story about Blended Reality. There isn't much to the

GEORGIA TECH RESEARCHERS CREATE THE WORLD’S FASTEST DETAILED COMPUTER SIMULATIONS OF THE INTERNET [AUGUST 07, 2003] Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have created the fastest detailed computer simulations of computer networks ever constructed --simulating networks containing more than 5 million network elements. This work will lead to improved speed, reliability and security of future networks such as the Internet, according to Professor Richard Fujimoto, lead principal investigator of the DARPA-funded project (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency).
